I believe that Bangor is the best little city in America!

I graduated from John Bapst high school in 1996 and left Maine to pursue my college education and early career. I moved back to Bangor in 2011 and found a revitalized city with a vibrant arts and culture scene, flourishing local businesses, and passionate people who love living and working here.

During my career, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to cities and towns all across the United States, and there’s nowhere I’d rather live than Bangor. I’m excited to put my education and experience to work to make progress on important issues such as:

• Available and affordable housing for all

• Improved safety and accessibility of our sidewalks and streets

• A thriving downtown and business community

• Expanded cultural and recreational opportunities

My education and experience are in organizational leadership, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion. In my work life, it’s my job to listen to opposing viewpoints and find common ground while empowering teams to tackle tough challenges and weather times of great uncertainty.

While national politicians might win elections by dividing people into “us” and “them,” as neighbors sharing the same sidewalks, we have to work together for the benefit of all. That’s the perspective that I’ll bring to Bangor City Council.

Cara Pelletier graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in 1996, and has a Bachelor's degree in religious studies from Campbellsville University, a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, and a certificate in Public Leadership from Harvard Kennedy School.

Cara is a current volunteer member of the City of Bangor Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, Inclusion and Human Rights. She has volunteered for local organizations such as the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, Food and Medicine, Bangor Pride Festival, the Animal Orphanage, and Mabel Wadsworth Center, and has served on the board of directors for both EqualityMaine and Equality Federation.

Cara and her wife Kerrie live on West Broadway with 2 dogs and 3 cats.
